Moderately difficult winter hike to the forest chapel

The hike starts at the village square Galtür, leading you flat along the Trisanna to the hamlet of Tschaffein. From there, continue on the pavement to the “Rifugio” house and briefly along the main road before returning to the groomed winter trail on the left. You hike through the forest above the road, reach the wildlife park by the Valzurbach, and after a short incline, you arrive at the romantic forest chapel. The 9 km loop requires some fitness but offers stunning views of the Ballunspitze.

The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.

With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Galtür Dorfplatz
