Getting around the Paznaun valley

Hop on and enjoy the ride: The bus network of Galtür, Ischgl, Kappl and See is a great choice to explore the holiday region. Every 30 minutes, Bus No. 260 runs from Landeck-Zams station to the holiday resorts of the Paznaun valley.

It’s also easy to get to the region’s most popular attractions: In winter, the ski bus takes you to the ski resorts, in summer you can use the summer bus to get to the local hiking and biking trails. Ischgl, Galtür, Kappl and See are well connected, so getting from one town to the other is remarkably hassle-free. The next bus stop is always just around the corner!

Are you looking for a map to find your way around the picturesque Paznaun valley and its many traditional villages? With the interactive maps of Ischgl, Galtür, Kappl and See, it’s easy to get to a nearby attraction or to find a nice spot for a break. The maps also help you to plan your trip in advance, avoiding unpleasant surprises or detours on site. The best thing about it: You can filter the resort maps according to your needs. Plus, as the maps are digital, it only takes a few clicks to consult them from wherever you are.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR LOCAL MOBILITY

  • The carriage of dogs with bite-proof muzzles is free of charge, provided that they can be accommodated without disturbing or hindering other passengers.
  • Small dogs must be carried, large dogs must be kept on a short lead.
  • Passengers must supervise the animals. They may not be carried on the seats. If the bus is overcrowded, the driver may refuse to transport them.
  • Muzzles can be purchased from Sport Walter in the Galtür municipal building.

  • Mountain bikes can be transported on all cable cars. E-bikes can also be transported in Galtür, Ischgl and See.
  • Mountain bikes and e-bikes (max. 5 units) can also be transported free of charge on the summer bus. The bikes must be secured to the bike rack at the rear of the bus by the passengers themselves. 
  • A trailer for max. 16 (e-)bikes can be ordered from Alpentaxi (the day before).
  • Tip: You can easily reach all 4 villages in a short time via the valley cycle path.

Travelling on the Silvretta High Alpine Road is subject to a charge. 
With the Silvretta Card Premium, unlimited access is possible during your stay, with the holiday app PIA and the activated Silvretta Card Premium even on the day of arrival.

Please note: The Silvretta High Alpine Road is closed in winter.

Travelling by bus & train

Useful information for your journey

If you travel to Ischgl, Galtür, Kappl or See by train, get off at Landeck-Zams station. Guests from Switzerland benefit from a direct connection from Zurich, travellers from Germany or Italy only have to change trains once.

Travelling by car/motorcycle

Driving to Paznaun

Grab your bags, hop into your car – and off you go to Tyrol! Please keep in mind:

  • You need a (digital) toll sticker to use Austrian motorways and expressways.
  • In case of traffic jams, you are required to form an emergency lane.
  • Winter tyres are obligatory across Austria from November to April.
  • One reflective safety vest per passenger is compulsory.

Please also check the current traffic situation in advance before your trip – for instance with the ÖAMTC traffic service.

In summer, the Paznaun can also be reached from the west via the Silvretta High Alpine Road. Travelling on the Silvretta High Alpine Road is subject to a charge.

Travelling by plane

If you are travelling by plane, we recommend landing at Innsbruck Airport (100 km away). From there, it is possible to reach the holiday resort in Paznaun by bus, train or taxi.

FROM THE RAILWAY STATION AND AIRPORT TO PAZNAUN

END SPURT

Once you have arrived at Landeck-Zams station, there are several options for you to get to your final destination in the Paznaun valley. Will you be arriving by plane at Innsbruck Airport? Numerous busses and trains run from the airport to the station, where you can choose from the following transfer services:

FROM THE RAILWAY STATION TO PAZNAUN

Simply hop on, make yourself comfortable and be chauffeured:
Line 260 takes you directly from Landeck-Zams station to Paznaun every half hour. Alternatively, a taxi will pick you up directly from the station and take you to your accommodation.

The best thing about it: With the PIA holiday app and the activated guest card or Silvretta Card Premium, the bus journey from Landeck-Zams to Galtür is already included on arrival. You will receive information about this at your booked accommodation.

Tip: The car sharing provider ÖBB Rail & Drive has a station at Landeck-Zams railway station and at Innsbruck main station.

FROM INNSBRUCK AIRPORT TO PAZNAUN

  • ...by train:
    Innsbruck railway station can be easily reached by bus line F. The journey takes approx. 20 minutes (please note: tickets cannot be purchased on the bus). From Innsbruck railway station there is a direct train connection to Landeck-Zams station. From there, line 260 runs directly to See, Kappl, Ischgl and Galtür. All bus and train connections
  • ...by taxi:
    There is a taxi rank in front of the terminal. 
  • ...by hire car:
    There are 6 car hire companies in the immediate vicinity of the airport building. Further information can be found on the airport website.

FROM OTHER AIRPORTS TO PAZNAUN

If you are travelling via another airport (Munich, Zurich, Salzburg, Memmingen or Friedrichshafen), we recommend that you continue your journey by public transport. All nearby airports are optimally connected to the public transport network or the nearest railway station. The Landeck-Zams railway station can be reached by train either directly or with a maximum of one change. Line 260 runs from there to Paznaun.
