Our tip: Heidelberger Hütte lodge is a great starting point for multi-day ski tours. Lots of varied tours also start in Galtür, for instance at Jamtalhütte lodge or Wiesbadener Hütte lodge.

Tips for ski touring
To ensure safe and enjoyable ski tours, keep in mind the following:
- Take time to plan your tour in advance and know your skills and limits!
- Check the avalanche report before your tour and don’t take any risks! Especially if there has been snowfall during the last couple of days, some sections of the route may be risky.
- Also check the weather report before your tour to avoid unpleasant surprises.
- Make sure that your equipment is complete and in good shape. In addition to touring skis with bindings and climbing skins, you will need ski touring boots, poles and possibly crampons. Also bring a ski touring backpack and safety equipment! Our tip: If you don’t have your own gear, you can hire it at the many ski rental shops in the Paznaun valley.
- The earlier in the day, the more grip you have in the snow. What’s more, early mornings tend to be less crowded, and you have the amazing mountain views all to yourself.
- Especially during spring, it’s a good idea to start your descent before 10:00 am. Remember to check the opening hours of the ski resort!
