19 Winter hiking trail to Rotweg Chapel

The winter hiking trail from Kappl village to the Rotweg Chapel is a bit more challenging due to its inclines, but it rewards you with breathtaking views.

The trail starts at Kappl's village square. Below the church, head towards Hotel Dorfstadl and the Diasbahn junction. A narrow path on the left leads down to the valley station of the cable car, where you cross the road and the Kohlplatz bridge. The forest path to the Rotweg Chapel begins here, initially steep through the snowy winter landscape. At the top, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the village and surrounding hamlets.

The autoroute (A12 (westbound) or A14 (eastbound)) leads you to the Arlbergschnellstraße (S 16). At the exit for Pians, turn onto the Paznauntalstraße (B 188) and follow its course into the Paznaun.

Further parking in Kappl village at the Pardeck (opposite Camren's Pizzagrill) or below the bakery Wechner - the parking time is limited to 3 hours in winter.

With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Kappl Dorf
