Description
The hike first leads into the village of Laret. Right at the entrance to the village, the path branches off to the right, initially through the larch forest (the name Laret also comes from the Romansh word for larch) and then along the Mülbach. Alternatively, you can take the well-maintained forest road starting from St. Jakob Church in Samnaun-Compatsch toward Alp Trida. About halfway, you will pass Alpstein, one of the largest boulders in Switzerland, which was transported from the Bürkelkopf to Unteralp by the glacial ice during the last ice age. Here, you can continue either along the hiking trail by the Mülbach or along the alpine road to Alp Trida. From there, the mountain lifts take you back down to the valley via Alp Trider Sattel.
