Description
The entrance to Val Maisas is accessed via a steep little road leading to the shepherd's hut. With a bit of patience and luck, you can observe the golden eagle in its nest on the opposite slope. After the shepherd's hut, the single trail begins, and after about 500 meters, you will reach the fork toward Schwarzwand. The path steadily leads through the alpine roses toward Schwarzwand. After approximately two hours, you will arrive at the Roten Seeli. This is a small lake whose water turns red due to algae during the summer months. In recent years, the lake has occasionally dried up in the summer, so this phenomenon hasn't always been observable. The return journey is via the Lange Seite and Rossboden back to Samnaun Dorf.
