When the animals return from the alpine pastures to the valley in autumn, the traditional cattle drive is celebrated in Ischgl. Farmers from the alpine pastures of Pardatsch, Fimba, Gampen, Paznauner Taja, Madlein and Idalp decorate their cows and sheep with flowers, bells and bell straps to thank for an accident-free time on the mountain. Afterwards, there will be a celebration in the hamlet of Paznaun with live music, entertainment and culinary delights. Traditional Paznaun specialities are served, including “Kiachla” (doughy disks with sauerkraut or cranberries) and “Kaspressknödel” (cheese dumplings) with the notorious Paznaun Alpine Cheese. At this festival you can experience Ischgl and its deep-rooted traditions up close.
